Come along to a public information session at the Motueka Library to learn more about the redevelopment options and talk to staff about the plans.
Hard copies of the survey are also available at the Motueka Library and Motueka service centre.
We're planning to redevelop Motueka Library over the next few years, to provide the community with a modern facility able to meet the need for library services into the future.
The existing library in Pah Street is about half the size it should be for the size of the town it services (using Library and Information Association of New Zealand standards). Motueka's population is expected to grow over the next 20 years, which will put added pressure on the already overcrowded facility.
A feasibility study into the redevelopment options has been completed by Jerram Tocker Barron Architects, and recommends a new library in Decks Reserve as the preferred option.
Before making a final decision, we plan to seek the community's views on whether to build a new library, or expand the current library on its existing site. This feedback round will take place in October 2018.
